LUCCA Tempo: Draining the Machine

Here is how to drain your machine for shipping or storage under normal operating conditions.

Tools required:

  • Pitcher or measuring cup

  1. Begin with the machine fully heated.

  2. Remove the drip tray and reservoir. Set these aside.

  3. Place a towel in the reservoir area to absorb any spills.

  4. Tip the machine forward over the pitcher and press the one-shot button. Run the pump for about 15s or until 1-2 oz of water is dispensed.

  5. Clean up any spills. Dry out the drip tray and reservoir and place these back in the machine.

If there is any danger of the machine being exposed to freezing temperatures, we recommend the boiler be completely drained as a preventative measure. This is especially important when shipping the machine, as it may be exposed to adverse environmental conditions during transit. Consider this when placing the machine into extended storage as well. An unheated space such as a garage or storage unit may drop below freezing, potentially damaging the brew boiler.


Note that to preserve the health of your pump the shot button should be engaged for no longer than 60 seconds continuously. Vibratory pumps have a 1:1 duty cycle, meaning for every second they are used they require a second to cool down before being used again
