LUCCA Tempo: Resetting the Safety Switch
If your brew boiler fails to heat, the solution could be as simple as a tripped safety switch. Here's how to eliminate this as a possible complication.
Tools required:
- #1 Phillips head screwdriver
Before continuing ensure the machine is fully cooled and disconnected from the power source.
- Remove the top panel.
- Identify the safety switch. This is located on the side of the brew boiler directly behind the brew pressure gauge.
- Gently press directly inwards on the small red button. It may be easier to use a implement, pictured here is the insulated handle of a pair of wire cutters.
- There may or may not be a noticeable "click" when the switch is reset. If not, that is okay - it is still an important initial troubleshooting step.
Note: An overheating boiler is a common cause of a tripped safety switch. When resuming use of the machine, be sure to run the grouphead for at least 30s or until water begins to flow. This will ensure the boiler is completely filled with water to protect the heating element.
