Please read carefully before operating your compact dual-boiler vibratory-pump espresso machine. For a list of specifications, included accessories, and other details on the Profitec MOVE 2.0, check out our website. For setup information, please see the setup guide.
Getting Started
After reading through the Profitec MOVE 2.0's setup guide, test your water. Espresso machines have specific requirements when it comes to water. There are two primary considerations: filtration and hardness. Please carefully read about the importance of water in espresso to understand how water affects your espresso machine. For further learning, check out Coffee School's Water 101
Note: It's essential to test your water, filter, and soften to obtain 35-85 ppm to avoid scale and damage to your machine. RO (reverse osmosis) or distilled water lacks sufficient mineral content and could cause issues with your machine.

What's New on the MOVE 2.0
If you're coming from the original MOVE, you'll feel right at home. The display buttons, shot buttons, and PID menus work the same way. The upgrades are:
Brew by weight: Pair a compatible Bluetooth scale, and the machine stops your shot when your target weight. Programmable timed dosing and manual options are still available.
Make Coffee Yours app: Adjust every setting available on the machine's display from your phone over Bluetooth, and watch your shot data live as it pulls.
Faster heat-up: With Fast Heating enabled, the MOVE 2.0 is ready in about ~7 minutes.
Maintenance reminders: Water filter (with a water hardness setting), cleaning, descaling, and the automatic group cleaning program.
A more compact body: The MOVE 2.0 sits lower than the original.
Adjusting the PID and Accessing Sub-Menus
To change the brew and steam temperatures, set up active and passive pre-infusion, program one or both shot buttons to dispense espresso automatically, and adjust several other options, follow these instructions. Every setting in the PID menu can also be changed in the Make Coffee Yours app.
Open the main menu by pressing and holding the left-hand and right-hand display buttons for 3 seconds. The Brew Temperature icon will appear on the display.
Press the left- or right-hand display button repeatedly until the sub-menu you want appears.
Press the top shot button to open the selected sub-menu.
Press the left- or right-hand display button repeatedly until the setting you want is shown.
Press the top shot button to save the setting.
Press the bottom shot button to close the sub-menu and return to the main menu.
If you don't press anything for 30 seconds, the menu closes automatically and the display returns to your brew and steam temperatures.
Activating and Adjusting Pre-Infusion
Pre-infusion gently wets the coffee puck before full extraction. It happens in two phases, and you choose the length of each:
Active pre-infusion: The pump runs at the start of the shot for the number of seconds you set.
Passive pre-infusion: The pump pauses for the number of seconds you set, so the puck can fully saturate.
After the pause, the pump restarts and extracts at 9 bar for the rest of your programmed shot time. For example, a shot might use 3 seconds of active pre-infusion followed by an 8-second pause. When pre-infusion is off, the pump runs straight through from the moment you press the button.
Both durations can be set separately for each shot button, either in the Brew Settings sub-menu or directly with the shot button, as described below.
Turn pre-infusion on or off for the whole machine: Enter the Enable Pre-infusion sub-menu and select ON or OFF. Pre-infusion must also be enabled for each shot button you want to use.
Set pre-infusion in the Brew Settings sub-menu: Choose Brew 1 Settings (top button) or Brew 2 Settings (bottom button), then set:
Shot Time: Total duration of pump activity. The passive pause isn't counted.
PI Pause: ON turns pre-infusion on for that button. OFF turns it off.
Start: Length of active pre-infusion, in seconds (how long the pump runs before pausing).
Time: Length of passive pre-infusion, in seconds (how long the pump pauses).
Program pre-infusion directly with a shot button:
Press and hold the shot button for 4 seconds. The display shows ON or OFF for pre-infusion on that button.
With pre-infusion set to ON, briefly press the same button. The LED flashes, the pump starts, and a timer begins. This is your active pre-infusion.
When you want the pump to pause, press the button again. "---" appears on the display while the passive pause runs.
When you want the pause to end, press the button a third time. The pump restarts and the timer resumes.
When you want the shot to stop, press the button a final time. Your active, passive, and shot times are saved to that button.
In the app, pre-infusion can be adjusted down to tenths of a second.
Brew by Weight
Brew by weight keeps your yield constant from shot to shot, even when small changes in grind or dose affect how quickly the shot flows. You'll need the Make Coffee Yours app and a compatible Bluetooth scale. Profitec lists these as compatible:
Acaia (all models)
Decent Scale
DiFluid Microbalance
Eureka Precisa
Felicita
Goat Story Gina
Hiroia Jimmy
Skale II
Varia AKU (all Bluetooth models with updated firmware)
Solo Barista
Ikape
Brewista X
To set it up:
Download the Make Coffee Yours app from the App Store or Google Play.
Turn on Bluetooth on your phone, then power on your MOVE 2.0 and your scale.
In the app, connect to your MOVE 2.0, then connect your scale.
Set your target yield in grams.
Place the scale on the drip tray, set your cup on the scale, and tare.
Press a shot button. The shot stops when your target weight is reached.
Tip: Because brew by weight keeps your yield the same, ff shots are finishing much faster or slower than your recipe calls for, adjust your grind.
Using the Make Coffee Yours App
Beyond adjusting settings, the app turns every shot into data you can learn from:
Live graphs of brew time, weight, pressure, and flow rate during extraction
Save, recall, and edit recipes for each coffee
Log the coffee, grind setting, and ratio for each shot
Get grind adjustment suggestions based on your shot data
Set auto on/off times from your phone
More Settings
Please refer to the manufacturer's manual for additional settings such as ECO mode, cleaning and filter reminders, automatic group cleaning, barista lights, auto on/off scheduling, temperature units, and advanced PID settings.
