La Marzocco App: Siri Shortcuts

La Marzocco's iOS-connected app now supports iOS Shortcuts, allowing Siri users to connect their Linea Mini, Linea Micra, and GS3 (MP & AV) espresso machines directly to Apple’s automation ecosystem.

Siri Shortcuts Capabilities

La Marzocco Home is constantly improving their iOS connected app, making your experience making espresso with La Marzocco machines more fluid in your daily life. It's features include voice control with Siri that allow you to perfom customized shortcuts based on your daily espresso-making routine. Voice integrartion currently includes 5 voice commands:

  1. Check machine status

  2. Turn your machine on

  3. Turn your machine off

  4. Turn steam boiler on

  5. Turn steam boiler off

Access these shortcuts through your machine's settings page in the La Marzocco App. Tap "Shortcuts tips" to view all available commands. Shortcuts are automatically created when you pair a machine.

Creating Your Own Commands

The default shortcut phrases might feel a bit formal, but iOS Shortcuts are built to be customized. Here's how to create your own:

  1. Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac
  2. Tap + to create a new shortcut
  3. Tap Add Action and search for La Marzocco App
  4. Select your desired action (like "turn on MI000002 in La Marzocco")
  5. Tap the dropdown next to "New Shortcut" and rename it to whatever feels natural

Now you can use personalized phrases like "Hey Siri, turn on my espresso machine" instead of memorizing precise wording.

Building Automations

Beyond single voice commands, you can use Apple Shortcuts to build automations that combine your espresso machine with other actions, making it part of larger routines.

For example, create a morning shortcut that:

  • Turns on your espresso machine
  • Set your kitchen lights to 60% brightness
  • Gets a weather report

Name it "Start my day" and say those three words to Siri each morning.

You can also trigger shortcuts automatically based on time, location, or other events. In the Shortcuts app, tap the Automation tab and create a new automation. Choose your trigger, like arriving home or dismissing your alarm,then add the La Marzocco action you want. Set it to run immediately, and your machine will respond without you saying a word.
