Eureka Helios 80: Replacing Power Cable
Follow these instructions to replace the power cable on your Eureka Helios 80 grinder.
Tools Needed:
- Phillips screwdriver
- Small flat-bladed screwdriver
- Small adjustable wrench
- Replacement power cable
1. Unplug your Eureka Helios 80 grinder and lay it on its side. You may want to lay a towel down to protect the grinder and the work surface.
2. Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the four screws holding the base in place as shown.
You may need to remove the rubber bumpers to access the rear screws.
3. Identify the power cable wires on the inside of the grinder base.
4. Trace the black and white wires to where they attach to the power switch, then unplug both wires from the power switch.
5. Trace the green ground wire to the grounding post, then use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw and disconnect the green ground wire.
6. Identify the set screw in the power cable collar, then use the small flat-bladed screwdriver to loosen the set screw. This will allow the power cable to slide freely.
NOTE: When installing the replacement power cable make certain not to over-tighten this screw.
7. Identify the power cable retaining nut on the underside of the grinder base, then use the small adjustable wrench to unscrew the retaining nut while you hold the power cable collar firmly with the other hand. Remove the retaining nut from the grinder base.
8. Slide the power cable collar up and off of the power cable wires. You may need to feed the wires through the collar one at a time.
9. Pull the power cable wires through the hole in the grinder base.
10. Slide the power cable retaining nut up and off of the power cable wires. You may need to feed the wires through the retaining nut one at a time.
11. The old power cable should now be free of the grinder, grab the replacement power cable and install it into the grinder by following these steps in reverse. (Hint: Start by threading the power cable retaining nut onto the new power cable.)
NOTE: Don't forget to to replace this yellow wire on the ground screw when you install the green ground wire.
NOTE: Make sure all of the electrical connections are firmly plugged in and secure before reattaching the grinder base.
