La Marzocco Linea Mini Espresso Machine (Pre-2024): Setup Guide

Congratulations on your new La Marzocco Linea Mini Espresso Machine. Watch our setup video below on this dual boiler, saturated group espresso machine to help you get started.

Step 1: Inspect the box and the machine for damage

  • Carefully remove the machine from the box and pallet. We always recommend saving all of the packing materials, boxes, and its pallet if you ever need to ship the machine in the future.
  • Before turning on the machine, inspect for damage that may have occurred during shipping. If you notice any damage, contact us immediately.
  • Save all packaging as this is needed for returns and repairs.

Step 2: Water Quality and Plumbing in your machine

Before introducing any water to the machine, it’s essential to test it to ensure it’s within a safe range for your machine.

  • Use one of the included water test strips to verify the softness of your water. Ideally, we’re looking for a softness around 50 ppm.
  • Once you have verified your water is adequately softened and filtered, it’s time to add water to the reservoir. Remove the drip tray to access the machine’s front-loading reservoir.
  • If you would like to plumb in your machine, a separate plumb-in kit is available, and we have a simple video for you with installation instructions. For more information on water, take a look at clivecoffee.com/water.

Step 3: Filling your boilers and turning on the machine

  • Plug in your machine and flip on the power switch.
  • Once turned on, you will hear the pump start, and the machine will automatically begin to fill and heat both boilers.
  • You’ll know the machine is fully heated and ready for use when the red light remains solid. Typically, this takes about 15-20 minutes.
  • At this point, your machine is ready to pull your first shots.
  • With coffee in your portafilter, engage the brew paddle to start the pump and begin your shot. To stop your shot, move the brew lever back to its original off position.
