Getting Started

Lelit Elizabeth: Setup Guide Video

Congratulations on your new Lelit Elizabeth Espresso Machine. Watch our setup video below on this dual boiler espresso machine to help you get started.

Step 1: Inspect the box and the machine for damage

  • Remove the machine from the box and place it on a stable, level surface.
  • Before turning on the machine, inspect for damage that may have occurred during shipping. If you notice any damage, contact us immediately.
  • Please note that it is normal for a small amount of water to be on the machine when it arrives. It is also normal for the portafilter to not fit perfectly at 90 degrees!

  • Save all packaging as this is needed for returns and repairs.

Step 2: Water Quality and Filling your Machine

  • Before introducing any water into your reservoir, it’s important to test it to make sure it is within a safe range for your machine.
  • Use the included water test strip to verify the softness of your water. Ideally, we’re looking for a hardness around 50 ppm.
  • For more information on water, take a look at clivecoffee.com/water or click the link in the description of this video.
  • At this point we’re ready to fill the reservoir.

Step 3: Starting your machine and filling the boiler

  • Plug your machine in and turn on the power switch on the left side of the machine.
  • The machine will automatically start filling the brew and steam boilers.
  • After the boilers have filled, you’ll want to pull some water through your brew boiler and group head. Press either shot button on the front panel to activate the pump. Once at least 4 ounces of water has run through the group head, push the same button used before to stop the pump and insert the portafilter.
  • At this point, you’ll have used most of the water in the reservoir. We’d recommend refilling your reservoir now to avoid running out of water.
  • Once the PID reaches 200°F you’re ready to start pulling shots
  • With coffee in your portafilter, lock it into the group head and push either option one or option two to begin your shot. When you reach your desired shot weight or volume push the same button that you had previously used to start.

A Few Tips Before We Go:

  • The Elizabeth features a PID which allows for exact control over boiler temperature. Different coffees shine at different brew temperatures. Darker roasts tend to taste smoother at lower temperatures and lighter roasts typically taste best at a higher temp, with the entire range sitting between about 195 and 205 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • To adjust the brew temperature first press the minus button under the display. A little wrench icon will appear under the temperature readout. Pressing the plus button allows you to edit this setting. You can now use the plus and minus buttons to adjust the desired brew temperature by one-degree increments. To save the setting, leave the interface alone for a few seconds until the temperature readout stops blinking.
  • Pressing the minus button again will show you the steam boiler temperature and continuing to press the minus button will allow you to program brewing times as well as the length of the optional pre-infusion. Continuing to press the minus button will cycle back to the normal operating display.
