Lelit Mara X: Replacing The Steam/Hot Water Valve Seat Gaskets
Please use this guide to troubleshoot leaks, obstructions, or flow errors related to the steam wand or hot water tap on the Lelit Bianca, or to replace the valve seat gaskets. The following instructions are the same for both valves.
Tools Needed:- 21mm crescent wrench or adjustable wrench
- Second adjustable wrench
- Pick or small prying implement
- PTFE tape OR food safe thread sealant
- Food grade lubricant
- New plumbing seat (if needed)
- Note: The machine should be unplugged and cool to the touch -
1. Open the valve in need of service all the way by turning the wooden knob counterclockwise till you meet resistance.
2. Use an adjustable wrench to hold the valve assembly in place, using a microfiber cloth to avoid scratching the chrome finish on the fitting, and then use a second adjustable wrench or a 21mm crescent wrench to turn counterclockwise to remove the front of this knob assembly.
- If you find that this end piece is too tight to remove, please refer to these instructions on how to remove the entire valve on a similar style machine (steps 1-4), before you place it into a vice with a towel to remove the end. -
3. With the end of the valve assembly out of the machine, you may inspect the red plumbing seat for any signs of scale or wear, and then clean or replace as necessary (you can remove this gasket using a pick or similar instrument). Don't forget to clean inside the valve body still attached to the machine and make sure it is free of any possible blockages.
4. Wrap the exposed threads of the knob piece with some PTFE tape, and add a bit of lubricant to the new seat before reinstalling. And then follow these instructions in reverse to reassemble.
