LUCCA Atom 75 - TrueGrind AI Troubleshooting Guide

Having trouble connecting your LUCCA Atom 75 to your TrueGrind AI account? Coffees not syncing? Dial In Assistant not assisting? This article is for you!

We made TrueGrind to make dialing in easy, but even a smart robo-barista bent on world caffeination needs a hand sometimes. Here's a list of troubleshooting tips to help TrueGrind help you.

Download the App

To connect to your LUCCA Atom 75, make sure you've downloaded and installed the TrueGrind AI app for iOS or Android.

Important Note

At the time of writing, there still exists a legacy app called TrueGrind, which we keep around and support for users of an older LUCCA product. This app is not compatible with the LUCCA Atom 75.

Get Connected

Your LUCCA Atom 75 requires a strong and stable internet connection to sync coffees, get grind setting predictions, update recipes, download firmware updates, and use the Dial In Assistant.

Make sure you have good WiFi coverage where your grinder is installed, and keep in mind that, like most other IoT and smart appliances, the LUCCA Atom 75 can only connect to a 2.4 GHz network.

Your grinder's WiFi connection status is always displayed in the upper left hand corner of the home screen, and you can change the WiFi network your grinder's connected to by navigating to Settings (the gear-shaped icon)  > WiFi.

Check Your Firmware

Firmware is what we call the program that's always running on the small computer inside your LUCCA Atom 75. Our developers here at LUCCA periodically publish updates to that firmware to fix bugs, provide new features, or otherwise ensure continuity of service.

To ensure your grinder can connect to the internet and the cloud services it needs to sync with your account, you'll want to always make sure your firmware is up to date.

In most cases, if your grinder has a good internet connection, it will automatically detect if a firmware update is available when you turn it on, and notify you of that. You can also check your current firmware version, and whether a firmware update is available by navigating on the grinder's touchscreen to Settings > About > Firmware.

Important Note

Some firmware versions can no longer automatically be updated via WiFi, and must be updated manually via the USB port inside the grinder.

Those firmware versions are any version that starts with a 1 (e.g. 1.001, 1.002, etc.) and version 2.012.

If your grinder must be updated via USB, head on over to our guide on updating your LUCCA Atom 75 firmware via USB.

And as always, if anything in that guide feels a little beyond your comfort level, feel free to reach out to Clive's support team for a walkthrough or to request a service call.

Account for Accounts

TrueGrind AI offers three ways to create an account: traditional email/password, Google login, and Apple login.

It's important to remember to use the same method to log into your account that you used to create it. For instance, if you created your account with the email/password method, you'll need to log in using your email address and password, and not either of the other two methods.

If you try to log into an email/password-based account using Google or Apple login, you'll just end up creating a new account, and you won't find any of your saved coffee recipes, or be able to sync anything with your grinder without deregistering and re-registering it to the new account.

Pro Tip

If you used email/password to create your account, you must login using email/password, even if your email address is a gmail or iCloud address.

(De)Register Your Grinder

In order for your LUCCA Atom 75 to get AI-generated grind predictions, use the Dial In Assistant, and sync with your TrueGrind AI account, you'll need to make sure your grinder's unique Grinder ID is registered to your account.

You can register a grinder to your account by navigating to the Settings page of the TrueGrind AI mobile app, selecting your grinder, and entering its unique Grinder ID, which can be found by navigating in the grinder's touchscreen to Settings > About.

Likewise, you can deregister a grinder that's currently linked to your account in one of two ways:

  1.  In the TrueGrind AI mobile app, navigate to Settings and tap Deregister Grinder.
  2. On the LUCCA Atom 75 touchscreen, navigate to Settings > About > Reset All Settings.
    1. This will not only deregister this grinder from any account it is registered to, it will also reset the grinder to its factory settings, erasing all locally stored data, including your WiFi network name and password. But don't worry about your coffees! They are stored safely in the cloud and ready to be synced again from your TrueGrind AI account.

Pro Tips

Only one grinder can be registered to one TrueGrind AI account at a time.

If you don't see the Deregister Grinder option in the Settings page of the app, you may be logged into the wrong account.

When trying to register a grinder to your account, if you get a message saying "Invalid Grinder ID", then you've either mistyped the grinder ID, or the grinder you're trying to register to your account is currently registered to another account.

Conclusion

We hope that this guide has helped you get your LUCCA Atom 75 back to happily syncing coffees and generating grind predictions.

Because when it comes to robots, when it's happy, you're happy. And when you're happy, we're happy.
