Profitec LUCCA S58: Cleaning Check Valve
Here is the step-by-step instructions for accessing and cleaning the check valve on the LUCCA S58 espresso machine. This is useful if you are not getting any water into the coffee boiler or out of the grouphead of your machine (Difficulty ☕☕☕)
Tools needed:
- 2.5mm allen key
- 3mm allen key
- 2x adjustable wrench (or two appropriately sized metric wrenches)
1. Turn the machine off and let it cool completely. If the machine is plumbed in, turn off the water line.
2. Remove the panels from the machine. The Pro 700 has the same method of panel removal, the guide here shows the process.
3. Unplug the hose from the expansion valve and remove the copper tube from the outlet side of the T shown here.
4. Unthread the expansion valve from the silver T fitting.
5. Remove the check valve assembly and T fitting as one piece.
6. Carefully separate the two pieces of the check valve with your two wrenches as to not lose the ball or spring inside. Once apart you'll want to make sure the ball moves freely and there is no buildup on the red gasket inside where the ball sits.
7. Upon reinstallation, you may want to use some PTFE/plumber's tape to help seal the threads, or a small amount of thread lock to ensure there won't be any leaks.
