Rancilio Silvia Pro X: Brew Pump Removal and Replacement
Use these instructions to remove the brew pump from your Rancilio Silvia Pro for inspection, service, or replacement.
Tools Needed:- 10mm crescent wrench
- 13mm crescent wrench
- PTFE tape
- Optional: slip-joint pliers or similar
1. Start by removing the panels from the machine.
2. Identify the brew pump.
3. Disconnect the braided line from the brass elbow with the 13mm wrench. You may need to hold the brass elbow steady with the 10mm wrench.
4. Unscrew the brass elbow from the plastic pump outlet fitting. Identify and use the tool flats on the pump outlet fitting to hold the pump steady with the 13mm wrench while you turn the brass elbow with the 10mm wrench.
5. Pull the silicone elbow off of the inlet side of the pump.
6. Disconnect the electrical leads connected to the pump.
7. Pull the pump inlet and outlet out of the rubber pump mounting brackets. Start with the inlet side, then work the outlet side loose.
8. Inspect, service, or replace the pump.
NOTE: When re-installing the pump, clean any remaining thread sealant off of the brass elbow and wrap the threads in PTFE tape before screwing it into the pump outlet fitting.
