LUCCA Tempo: Removing the Steam Knob
Here's how to remove or replace the steam knob on your LUCCA Tempo
Tools required:
- 2mm metric hex key
- Pick tool
- Needle nose pliers
Begin with the machine fully cooled and unplugged from the power source.
- Using the pick tool, remove the metal cap from the knob. Note that since the wood is softer than the metal, it may be difficult to pry the cap loose without damaging the wood itself. Proceed with caution.
- Next, loosen (but do not remove) the two setscrews that secure the knob onto the steam valve spindle. Note that there are two setscrews, one on either side.
- Finally, use the pick tool to gently pry the e-clip free from the groove at the end of the steam valve spindle. The knob will now slide free.
- To reinstall the knob, ensure the washer is in place. Then, use the needle nose pliers to gently reseat the e-clip on the valve stem.
Note: Be careful not to over-tighten the setscrews upon reinstallation of the knob. Since these are threaded into the wood, the threading may be soft and easy to strip.
